I have two very special granddaughters who ride at JoyRide.
Skyler is age 12 with autism and ADHD and we are so grateful to JoyRide for so many ways they have helped her. She is more outgoing, more mature, much more likely to share information and accept instructions. She was so happy at Top Hands at the rodeo that several people from JoyRide commented on her smile. Then when she went to state competition in College Station she had a bit of a meltdown when we first arrived, I think the sheer size of the venue overwhelmed her a bit; but she recovered and went on to introduce her JoyRide friends to people she new from Special Olympics volleyball and surfing and drumming. The folks in the arena with her said she was just really on point and we believe this is due in large part to her time at JoyRide and all the positive reenforcements she receives there.
Brook is age 7 with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and intellectual disabilities. Brook loves the horses and the people at JoyRide. Riding has strengthened her core very noticeably. When she had to stop riding for 6 months due to seizures we saw a decline in her strength within and month and were thrilled to get her back on the horses this spring. She is still too young to compete but she loves riding every week and doesn't even realize how much it is helping her.
