BENEFITING: CANCER WELLNESS CONNECTIONS

THE STORY:
I survived stage 3 ovarian cancer, going into remission just over one year ago. Shortly after remission, I learned I have the BRCA genetic mutation, which is why I got ovarian cancer to begin with. This also meant I have an 87% chance of getting breast cancer. So I opted to beat it the punch by having a double mastectomy in February of this year.
Cancer has changed my life and I want to take every opportunity to help others and give back. This walk is one way I can do that. I walk to celebrate life and to honor very special people in my life who lost their battles with this terrible disease.
