THE STORY:

We will be building kits in support of the Days For Girls International Charity.  Our goal is to produce a minimum of 50 Sustainable Feminine Hygiene kits to help improve the lives of girls around the world. With your support we can reach this goal and hopefully surpass it!  We will sew as many kits as we can raise funds for, the more you give the more Kits get produced.

More information on this wonderful charity:

Education, safety, and dignity. Days for Girls empowers Days of education. Days of health. Days of safety. Days of dignity.

If you have to choose between feeding your children or providing sanitary supplies, which would you choose? The answer is clear. Where do you dispose of soiled pads when there is no trash service? Littered pads only add to the stigma girls can face. A quality answer that she can count on month after month that is comfortable and effective AND discrete gives her back days of possibility, safety, and dignity.

What if not having feminine supplies kept you isolated during menstruation? No study for DAYS. No income for DAYS. No access to hygiene... for DAYS. It happens worldwide to women in impoverished communities. They miss up to 8 months of school in 3 years to this issue. Girls use leaves, mattress stuffing, newspaper, corn husks, rocks, the list goes on... all to try to stay in school. These often lead to painful infection. Worse, girls are often exploited in exchange for hygiene to keep them in school. This also effects early marriage, as menstruating girls who are not in school are considered "eligible" regardless of age. It turns out this issue is one of the keys to social change. It's hard to imagine, but true all over the world.

Help us help them by donating to our fundraiser today (you can also donate directly to DFGI at their website).  We'll do all the work we just need your support.

The most interesting and much needed program we''ve heard in years. Some portion of these issues were still going on in America going into the 50s and 60s with there being a stigma attached to normal body functions. Luckily this isn't an issue here today but we are pleased to help with this effort elsewhere so women can lead more normal lives. 4 years ago

This is a great cause. I have a friend taking 500 pads to Ethiopia this fall. And Dining for Women has featured several grassroots organizations who have similar projects. Thanks for inviting us. 4 years ago
