Paul Phillips wrote -Summary
Since 1990 half of the world's rain forests have been destroyed. This causes huge environmental problems considering that Tropical deforestation is responsible for approximately 20% of world greenhouse gas emissions. More than half of the worlds Animal and Plant species live in forests. It also causes economic problems with country's experiencing up to 7% drops in GDP where deforestation is taking place.
We plan to replant forests in areas of South America, This forest will be grown and managed in a sustainable way. We will start of with more trees then we need to encourage them to grow Taller as they are naturally competing for light, the trees will then be thinned out leaving the strongest 75% to continue growing. Any proceeds made will be reinvested in maintaining the Forests and purchasing new trees. As a non profit organization we feel that we should not only be supporting the environment and wildlife but also local people that's why we aim to.
-Build houses for workers and there families
-Provide wood to local business at no profit to us so that the local economy can grow
-Helping to preserve forests and wildlife maintaining tourism, a large part of the local economies.
What We Need
It costs around $30 to grow a tree in one of our nursery and then transfer it out onto one of the sites, we are asking for funding so that we can begin to operate in a more effective way having a larger impact on the lives of local people and a better result for the environment. Although there is not a lot we can offer you in material things we can provide information including GPS locations of where the trees are that you helped make possible and provide updates on how things are going.
