Only $600 to go! See More

THE STORY:

Hi. My name is Korman Seagull. I am thriving with PTSD and Autism. 5 years ago I moved from the greater Boston area to  Tallahassee, Florida to be closer to family and have a lower cost of living. I have attended college and graduated from New England School of Photography. I have tried to work many jobs, but my diagnoses have prevented me from keeping employment. However, I have not been deterred from contributing to society. I'm an outsider artist and have had work in galleries, have sold work, and had work published in a book. I also have taught myself how to play several musical instruments, including piano. I'm not a slouch! I live on $740 per month. With housing and food assistance I am able to survive. What I can't afford is transportation. I don't need and am not interested in  owning an automobile.  A car, with the cost, insurance, gas, repairs is out of the question. It's not sustainable for the environment or my budget. And I don't need the stress that comes with car ownership.

This fundraiser is for a moped scooter, my dream vehicle! With a scooter, I can get to my therapy and doctor appointments. I can go shopping, visiting, go to my religious meetings. And, best of all, I'll have the freedom to get out of the house for social activities like hiking, volunteering or just meeting up for coffee. I have been trying to save to no avail. The most I've been able to put together is $300; once for a motorized bicycle, and another time for a gas powered standup scooter. Neither of those worked out for commuting and both ended up being a waste of money.  I can put up the money for the helmet and safety gear at most. The scooter I'm raising money for is down the street at Scooterville. It's the least expensive one they sell at $699. With tax, tag and title it's about $750. It's brand new, and the staff there is real friendly and helpful with all things scooter. Tallahassee has a big scooter community, because of the good weather and the not-so-good bus system.

It's not a huge amount of money that I'm trying to raise, but the effect on my life would be enormous! I can't do this alone! I will definitely do my utmost to pay it forward.

                                                                               Thank you so much!
