BENEFITING: SUSTAIN HAITI
Once called "the Pearl of the Antilles," Haiti was famed for its stunning biodiversity and lush, dense forests. Unfortunately, with the passage of time, unsustainable farming practices, dependence on lumber for fuel and other factors has led to the destruction of more than 93% of Haiti's forests.
The loss of Haiti's forests creates numerous issues. Deforestation contributes to soil erosion, dangerous landslides, poor water quality, water-borne disease, crop failure, malnutrition and more.
By working together with small, local farmers and communities, we establish nurseries with various tree species to provide food, support livelihoods, enrich soil quality, and restore the mountainsides.
With our team of local agronomists, we are confident and enthusiastic that this project will be a success.
We need your help. Be part of a sustainable solution. Donate today and support the local farmers and members of these communities!
