Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
Suzanne's father, John, started feeling severe pain in his abdomen in late 2007. For many months, he went to doctors and specialists, but none could find the reason for his discomfort. In August 2008, he was scheduled for gallbladder removal, but the surgeon cancelled the surgery and ordered more tests. Several days later, John was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. Often undetected until the latest stages, Pancreatic Cancer is an aggressive cancer with unfavorable statistics on survival. John battled through 11 months of chemotherapy, but lost his battle in July 2009.
Those who lost a loved one to Pancreatic Cancer are responsible for sharing their story and spreading awareness.
Matt serves on the Board of national Veteran's nonprofit Luke's Wings, a DC-based charity founded in 2008. Luke's Wings exists for one purpose: to unite Wounded Warriors and their families at military hospitals. They book the flights and cover all the logistics, working with American Airlines, who has a right of first refusal, and can book flights within 10 minutes of a request. To date, Luke's Wings has booked over 1,000 flights. They were featured on Fox News last year -- http://video.foxnews.com/v/1962294159001/lukes-wings/.
