BENEFITING: CHESAPEAKE CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK
EVENT: CCAN Polar Plunge 2016
EVENT DATE: Jan 30, 2016
The date is set. Mary and Katie will be jumping into the icy waters of the Potomac River on January 23rd to support the fight to stabilize our climate.
Sound weird and out of this world? Not to us! We will be plunging with hundreds of others to support the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) in their 11th Annual Polar Bear Plunge. Each year, dedicated earth lovers like us come together and sacrifice their warmth to help CCAN keep winter cold.
So what does jumping into an ice-cold river have to do with helping CCAN? Well that’s where you come in! We are agreeing to jump into freezing cold water in the middle of winter if you and others agree to sponsor me - similar to doing a 5K for a cause. By agreeing to support my plunge on January 23rd, you’ll help CCAN continue to fulfill its mission of educating and mobilizing citizens in Maryland, Virginia, DC and beyond to take concrete steps to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
We've set a personal goal of raising $1,000 this year. Can you help out by donating to sponsor me? Every amount, even $1, will help us to our goal. Your gift will not only deem our plunge into the frigid waters a success, but it will also enable CCAN to continue pushing forth with clean energy victories in the Chesapeake region and the nation alike. And all donations are 100% tax deductible!
