First Long Run
July 10, 2018
Hi y'all! Thanks for stopping by.
I still can't believe I've committed to two marathons this fall. My first (ever) will be in Chicago in October, and then five short weeks later, I'll be crossing through NYC's boroughs for number two. I have a long term goal of completing all six of the world majors (Chicago, NYC, Boston, Berlin, Tokyo, London) and it still doesn't feel real that I am either lucky enough or crazy enough to knock out 1/3 of my goal in 2018.
It's been a hilly and uncertain journey over the last few months - for those of you who don't know, after a half marathon in March, I fractured my right foot and had severe tendonitis in my left. Yep. Both feet. I spent the next two months stomping around NYC in two boots with casts on underneath. My number one question to my doctor week after week was 'will I be able to run the marathon?' I'm sure she loved how interested in healing I was. I was ready for the next step. I wanted to get back out there.
It took months of rest and rehabilitation, but I have officially been cleared to run.
To commemorate my first marathon, please join me in supporting She's the First, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping girls in low-income countries be the first in their families to graduate from high school.
100% of the net proceeds raised for She's the First through Sweat for STF go directly to the Scholars at our partner schools. Learn more about giving levels and our country partners at shesthefirst.org.
Thank you all so much, and hope to see you at the finish line!
