Hello friends and family!
As many of you may know, I am the co-founder of one of 225 chapters of She’s the First (STF) throughout the nation.
She’s the First is a nonprofit organization working to raise money for scholarships to help increase girls' education in low-income countries. Since 2010, there have been 2,647 scholarships awarded to 881 students. STF has impacted girls in 11 different countries including Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Guatemala, Peru, India and Nepal. We sometimes take for granted the educational opportunities provided to us in the United States, and this is your chance to provide a once in a lifetime opportunity to one of these girls.
She’s the First hosts many different types of fundraisers ranging from bake sales to events like Sweat for STF, in which I am participating. Sweat for STF is a subgroup of She’s the First who uses fitness events to fundraise for STF recipients, many of whom are the first in their families to graduate from high school.
100% of the proceeds raised for She's the First through Sweat for STF go directly to the students at their partner schools around the world. Full details about the organization can be found at https://shesthefirst.org/our-focus/.
This July, I will be headed to Europe to cycle coast to coast from the Netherlands to Italy. My group will be riding 1,136 miles in total, averaging 60 miles a day, over 4 weeks and through six different countries. I am thrilled to be facing the challenge of a coast to coast ride in Europe, while supporting She’s the First.
The girls of She’s the First need your support. I am asking you to sponsor me in raising money to help fund scholarships for these girls. You have the option to choose from the pre-listed amounts or you may donate an amount of your choosing.
Specific pre-calculated amounts:
A penny a mile = $11
A nickel a mile = $57
A dime a mile = $114
A quarter a mile = $284
Thank you in advance for your support of this important cause, and be sure to look out for pictures after I return on July 29th!
