On June 17th I will be racing the Patriot IronMan 70.3!!!
The hundreds of hours I have spent the 8 past months swimming, biking and running with a few teammates from the Dartmouth Triathlon Team in preparation have led me to realize just how special it is to have the opportunity to do something I never thought would be possible.
When was the last time you did something for the first time??
I am hoping to use this race as a first of many to raise awareness of the importance of empowering girls to achieve their dreams, and support the work of my sisters Andrea and Paula furthering this mission across the world with She's The First. She's The First is an incredible organization that empowers girls across the world by providing educational scholarships and mentoring programs for girls in ten low-income countries, and opportunities for people to make a difference through leadership programs and fundraising campaigns here in the US! My sister, Andrea, first discovered this organization five years ago and established the first high school chapter in our hometown high school. Paula continued the mission and shared her passion for the organization as a middle schooler. Both continue to be really involved at college and high school. Andrea and Paula show me just how powerful girls can really be and inspire me to keep following my dreams of being an IronWoman!!
It would mean so much to me if you would donate to my cause and help me cross that finish line on June 17 with a purpose!
Here's a little bit from She's The First so you can see how great they are:
Sweat for STF is a community of people who use fitness to fundraise for She's the First scholarships, helping girls in low-income countries be the first in their families to graduate from high school.
100% of the net proceeds you raise for She's the First through Sweat for STF go directly to the Scholars at our partner schools. Learn more about giving levels and our country partners at shesthefirst.org.
Participants in past Sweat for STF fundraisers attest that there is nothing more motivating than our Scholars to inspire them to reach their fitness goals!
The annual grand finale of the campaign is the New York City Marathon, where first-time marathoners run for us—it coincides with a celebration of She's the First's birthday.
Additionally, our Scholars have played a special role in fostering this community. In Nepal at the Kopila Valley School, STF Scholars host a 5k "Race for Equality" that sparks awareness and conversations about gender inequality in their village.
We hope that you'll join our team! You're stronger than you think.
