Legging it for Lelo
Organized by: Trey Locke
EVENT DATE Oct 18, 2015
"When you educate a girl, you plant the seed to change a community, a nation & every future generation. It starts with one girl & one scholarship." The Seed, Africa
In 2013 I visited a country called Swaziland. While there I lived near an intelligent, soft-spoken girl who aspired to be a doctor. Her name is Lelo. Swaziland is a beautiful country, but it has its challenges. Many parents are unable to send their children to school, and Lelo was no exception.
With the help of my friend Georgina-Kate, Lelo has been able to complete primary school, and has finished at the top of her class every year. Remarkably, she has been offered a place at one of the best boarding schools in the country. The Seed, Africa was started to help raise a scholarship so Lelo could take up this opportunity, and move one step closer to becoming the first person in her family to go to college.
Every child deserves the chance to fulfill their potential, and that’s why I’m proud to be “Legging it for Lelo” in the Columbus Marathon. It will be a challenging 26.2 miles, but with your sponsorship, we can raise a scholarship for Lelo to stay in school next year. Please help me make this special girl’s dream come true. Thank you. – Trey Locke
