Organized by: Arielle Adrien
EVENT DATE Oct 30, 2014
Fanm Vanyan Cheridan is a group of economically disenfranchised rural women in Petite Riviere in Leogane. Over the summer, I went to Haiti and worked with these women who saw the need to form a women organization. With a small financial contribution I helped them pilot a small business based on exporting nostalgic goods to the United States. They have made significant profit and would like to grow. The money raised will help the women expand on the successful piloted business which has linked the rural women to Haitians living in the United States through selling of nostalgic products. The funds will enable them to buy more local products to export to the U.S. where they will make significantly more profit. The money raised will also support business, literacy and organizational development training for the women to strengthen their initiatives. I am excited to go back to Haiti to join the women in their first annual congress on November 20, 2014 to address health, women's empowerment, business development etc.
