Completed day two and feeling great. I was only planning on a warm up mile before getting in some strength training when I hit the emergency See more
After losing a cousin and friend in Marine SGT Brandon Bury to the war in Afghanistan in 2010 my life seemed to involve the military more than I thought possible. I began dating a former marine and through our relationship, and my relationship with the other veterans around us, I became painfully aware of issues facing veterans as well as issues facing families who had lost loved ones in our current wars. I have spent the last five years looking for answers and solutions, often reflecting while running and biking (and now recently swimming). I use this time to reflect on Brandon, my relationship with Ryan and the thousands of other families with the same problems and same questions. I am thankful each day that I have not personally lost anyone in my life to suicide. I stumbled upon Stop Solider Suicide about a year ago and have been thinking of doing my 22 in 22 for awhile. I completed my first triatholon last summer and then I sadly got away from the fitness I found so healing. I know completing this campaign will help me get in touch with myself and my loved ones. I know my body does best with a variety of work outs so that is why I pledge to complete my miles through swimming, biking and running. Even though the idea is 22 miles my goal is to reach a minimum of 40 bike miles, 22 running miles and as much swimming as I can manage. Thank you for your support.
