BENEFITING: Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Jun 21, 2015
This Father's Day I will be taking the plunge one last time as I swim just off the shore of Alcatraz Island to Crissy Field in San Francisco. In honor of my father who suffers from Myasthenia Gravis I will be swimming to raise awareness of this condition and hope to raise $500 to help fund research to hopefully one day discover the true cause and find a cure to this muscular disorder. Myasthenia Gravis (pronounced My-as-theen-ee-a Grav-us) comes from the Greek and Latin words meaning "grave muscular weakness." The most common form of MG is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that is characterized by fluctuating weakness of the voluntary muscle groups.
