Julian is the captain of the Pacific Marine Mammal Center Catalina Island to Laguna Beach Channel swim attempt this summer. He is an American open water swimmer who was a member of two successful 2012 Catalina Channel relay teams and an Anacapa Channel relay team that same year.
As an accomplished pool swimmer since the 70’s Julian has competed at the National level since High School spending time at the US Olympic Swimming camp in Colorado. In 1979, Julian qualified for and joined the US Modern Pentathlon Olympic Training Camp in Fort Sam Houston Texas.
Julian is an active athlete who loves the outdoors and is no stranger to the water. His first job was as a Lifeguard in Seal Beach and studied Marine Science at CSULB. Since then he has been very active in both pool and open water competitions on the West Coast. Julian is an observer for the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation.
