Welcome friends and family! As promised, you now have proof of my wilder days. The profile picture was taken at Bonnaroo in 2000-something. Those are indeed my shoulder-length dreadlocks and that is also my sweet phoenix tattoo (I was 20...). You will notice that I appear to be contemplating a gigantic sculpture of a pencil. That is probably a safe bet.
For those of you who didn't know me before I started dressing like a Mormon accountant, I was always a bleeding heart hippie looking for a cause. This picture reminds me of why I still work at Seattle Works (going on 5 years!). Every year we turn 6 hardworking staff and a few hundred amazing volunteers into thousands of service hours in nonprofits all over Seattle. It blows my mind! The hours may be long and the work may be hard but I'm so proud of what we do.
Our volunteers help out everywhere from the underserved parks of Seattle to youth shelters and food banks. Even at the local Goat Rescue! Yes, there is a goat rescue and we volunteer there. I saved that for last because I'm priming you for the ask. Here it goes! I hope that you can give a little or a lot to support the amazing work that we do at Seattle Works. Please help us make Seattle a better place! You'll make this old hippie proud!
ps- Flip through the pictures on the left and you'll see more from my dreadlocked past. Don't make me regret this!
pps- You should also check out the video. It's about one of the coolest projects we did last year.
