Sydney in Haiti
Organized by: Sydney Petite
Hi friends and family! I will be among a group of Tulane Medical and Graduate Public Health students in Jacsonville, Haiti from June 2 - June 19 with the non-profit Sante Total. The project involves conducting research on nutrition and sanitation statuses of local households to assess the health burden of helminths (parasitic worms) and to help to provide clinical care to the local population. All costs incurred are expected to be covered individually and there is no funding available. Any donations are sincerely appreciated and every little bit helps!
The funds will help to cover the cost of Kreyol (Creole)-to-English translators and supplies for the clinic (including soap & womens sanitary items, among other things), as well as travel expenses as a volunteer. Being able to hire translators will help ensure that the collected data is reliable and consistent.
Sante Total provides ongoing support to Jacsonville, Haiti, which means the ongoing support received from private donors is so very critical. There are several projects underway right now that your donation of goods, services and or financial contributions will have a huge impact. These projects relate directly back to elevating diseases that are directly related to poverty. The projects include a clinic, medications, latrines, a road, educational projects and electricity from renewable sources.
