I’m a bad mommy. Not because…
I’m a bad mommy. Not because I had a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder. That wasn’t my fault, of course! But because more than 800 amazing people like YOU supported Postpartum Progress’ first ever Climb out of the Darkness fundraiser last summer and it took me this long to thank you. Where have my manners gone?

Please let me, during this week of Thanksgiving, tell you how thankful we are for you. Let me tell you how much your support meant to us and to moms all over the world suffering from postpartum mood and anxiety disorders. Climb Out of the Darkness wowed and surprised us. Warrior Moms raised over $40,000 in just three weeks, energizing our Board of Directors and battalion of volunteer moms to double down in our efforts to grow our non-profit.

Technology-driven and with a fierce focus on moms, we aim to double awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders by 2019. Thanks to your support we have already created a fantastic infographic (we're still tweaking it, so you'll see it soon!) that shows the downstream effect of untreated postpartum depression and anxiety on children. We are in the process of updating and expanding our blog as well as including foreign language versions. We're also developing our patient and doctor educational materials and much more.

And beyond Postpartum Progress and equally as important, your donation helped your family members, friends and coworkers who've had perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to STAND PROUD. They have battled or are in the process of fighting these illnesses not just for themselves but for their families. It is an exhausting effort to heal mentally and physically all while simultaneously combating the stigma of having a mental health issue and often times with lack of access to qualified professional care.

Warrior Moms are my heroes. Thank you for helping us to support the thousands of moms from around the world who benefit from Postpartum Progress' work each day.

So while I may be bad at thank you notes, I’m good at fighting for causes I believe in. And let me assure you that by standing behind your Warrior Moms and Postpartum Progress you are joining me in standing up for families everywhere.

THANK YOU. Happy Thanksgiving!

In gratitude,
Deborah Rimmler, Board of Directors, Postpartum Progress

Sylvia, Thank you so much …

Thank you so much for your donation to Climb Out of the Darkness, to help raise awareness of postpartum depression and related illnesses around the world and to support the work of Postpartum Progress. We are immensely grateful for your support -- we could not do this work without you. In fact, I'm grateful for everything you have done and continue to do to support this cause, Sylvia!

Finally, I must mention how proud we are of all the Warrior Moms who showed such courage in Climbing and in reaching out to share their story of maternal mental illness. They surely shined an enduring light on what is the most common complication of childbirth, and you have helped them do it.

With gratitude,
Katherine Stone

Note: Please note that if you used a credit card for this donation, it will show up on your statement as We Pay Inc., which is the company Crowdrise uses to distribute funds to our organization.

Susan SAYS:
WTF????? Are you doing dona…
WTF????? Are you doing donating a hundred dollars when you are trying to negotiate a new business???? Your generosity is WAY WAY over the top my friend and words cannot describe how much I appreciate it. While you and I both have some reservations about KatStone, we both support the work she does. Postpartum Progress really does help hundreds of women every year, every night....

Tomorrow I am writing a blog for Postpartum Progress AND sending an email to the PSI Board and President's Advisory Council. And some other foundations, researchers and practices. Not ONE of them (except you and I, and to her credit Karen Kleiman) have donated to Postpartum Progress's fundraiser. Yet all these organizations and agencies and practices expect her to publicize their conferences, workshops, books, practices, events, and their fundraisers which she faithfully does. I am sure PSI's trainings and other events/organizations owe a significant percentage of participants and donors to Katherine posting their news. She never turns down a story or request if it will help or educate someone. Postpartum Progress is like the NY Times of what's happening in PPD. While never losing its focus on mothers, it also let's the entire PPD community know what's up. That's why I can support it and because Katherine has no other way to raise money and is a one man band (like you are) she really needs the help.
Bottom line, you are a dear, dear friend and a true blue advocate for women. And all the money goes to support and expand web-based informational services for women. She has no "Executive Director" salary. And Postpartum Progress does it better than any other website. Truly. And this I respect.
Thank you, thank you thank you thank you thank you. I love you to death and there are no words to describe the beauty of your heart.
PS, Just went to have lunch at Central Kitchen, the new restaurant that opened up last Friday where the Englewood Cliffs diner used to be. Sat next to Patrick Ewing who I didn't even notice until every cell phone in the room was pointed in his direction. Was with his girlfriend/wife and little girl. I want to take you there to lunch, please let me know if you could come to Englewood Cliffs next Wednesday around noon.
