Syrian refugees food and shelter foundation
Organized by: Adam Jones
Soon after the crisis began in Spring 2011, refugees began fleeing the violence in Syria by crossing into Lebanon. The Foundation made a donation to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide humanitarian relief support for the critical needs of around 6,000 refugees in the Wadi Khaled area of North Lebanon including shelter, winter fuel, food, medicine and help with getting the children back into school as quickly as possible. We also helped the local Lebanese community as the majority of refugees were (and still are) being housed by the generous hospitality of local host families. The Asfari Foundation joined us by providing an equal amount of money in support of UNHCR. Our two Foundations became the first to respond to this critical situation.
