BENEFITING: TAALUMA PROJECT INC
EVENT DATE: Mar 23, 2014
Several years ago a group of Virginia Tech students studying abroad in Lugano, Switzerland traveled to Kenya. While there they learned of the struggles endured by Kenyan children trying to complete their education. In the spirit of Ut Prosim they started the Taaluma Project to help provide students of Bambakofi Academy with a high school education. In Kenya, families have to pay in order to send their children to high school. This fee is far too high for many families to afford, denying children the opportunity to achieve the next level of education.
Each year 25 students graduate from Bambakofi Academy, and with your donation, we can ensure that these students can focus on their studies instead of whether or not they can afford to attend.
Each day, the students in Kenya walk an average of 6.5 miles to and from school. In an effort to raise awareness, my fellow Hokies and I are walking and running through Europe, hence the name Trot for Taaluma.
My goal, in cooperation with the Taaluma Project, is to raise $20 towards scholarships for students of Bambakofi Academy by March 23rd. Any donation is appreciated.
