Wally, our brave warrior, is kind, loving, playful, handsome and cooperative. You’d never guess he’s in severe pain and needs surgery as soon as possible to save his life! He has already won over his adoptive family while being fostered and has an amazing personality. Wally fetches, enjoys treats and cuddles with them every night. He is completely devoted to them - they feel the same way about him and really want him to heal. They are totally prepared to support his care, convalescence, vet visits, medicine and journey to wellness. But we need to help them raise the funds for his costly surgery so he can join his new family! Wally remains trusting and open with humans and other animals; with this surgery, he will definitely enjoy a happy, healthy future.
When Wally arrived at Tabby Town as a surrender from someone who could not care for him, his left ear was filled with leaking puss which was smelly and dark in color. This condition worsened over the next week although our volunteer team was constantly cleaning his ear and caring for him while he awaited his veterinary appointment. On June 9th, 2016 he was taken to our veterinary care partner, Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic, where he was diagnosed with a severe ear polyp that was spreding infection throughout his system; he was immediately referred to a specialist at Sheridan Animal Hospital. During his appointment with the specialist he was further diagnosed with purulent fluid in the left ear canal, which had become increasingly infected. It was confirmed that his infection was very severe (one of the worst ear infections that the vet had ever seen) and the infection had already grown into his jaw and filled a large area of his head. Wally was and is in severe pain most of the time. Now his eye is also compromised and there are lesions on the multifocal retinal area. The specialist confirmed that surgery is absolutely necessary to save Wally and return him to a normal, pain-free life which will include saving most of his eyesight and enabling him to go home to his new forever family. The veterinarian confirmed the very high success rate of this surgery.
Surprisingly, before this diagnosis was even confirmed, Wally had already won the hearts of a wonderful local family who wanted to take him home! He was absolutely adorable and charming even while in severe pain. Our Director, Cheryl Ludwig, had to tell them of Wally’s medical dilemma and then acted responsibly by arranging to put him in “foster care” with them while we have been determining whether we can find the funding to move forward with treatment and save him (Tabby Town is a no-kill, “save them all” rescue and adoption center.) The estimate to cure this amazing cat is $3,100; Tabby Town is in the process of trying to raise some of this funding through various avenues; so far, we have raised about $400.00 but we have a long way to go! The prospective family paid the $100.00 adoption fee in hopes of Wally’s recovery but they cannot afford the cost of this surgery and subsequent medicines for him either.
Any donation you can make is very much appreciated and will truly make a direct impact as it helps us to save Wally. All funds raised will go toward veterinary costs for the surgery and medicines to save him. For a donation of $50, you can become a Tabby Town Guardian Ambassador and be part of our special extended "family" that will directly impact Wally's life and and his opportunity to go to his forever home after recovery. You will also be recognized on our Donor Wall at our location.
