A Tablet for Every Student, One Class at a Time!
Organized by: George Majlaton
I love repairing electronics and in one broken lot I received 10 tablets. Fixing them was like fixing giant android cell phones and was very easy for me. I was able to repair all 10 in no time very inexpensively. I gave away a couple of the tablets to some neighborhood children who I knew could not afford them otherwise. They were thrilled excited and 100 more emotions all at the same time! This gave me the idea to get as many broken tablets as I can, repair them and donate them to needy students in the Baltimore area. I can obtain the tablets for $5-$10 and it costs $15 to $25 to refurbish them. So a small $20-$30 investment in each our students will pay off exponentially helping develop our future leaders, teachers, scientists and inventors. The side benefit of our project is that it is a Green Project that helps recycle electronics putting them to great use as opposed to filling up our landfills. With our initially fundraising target we hope to donate 1,000 tablets by the end of 2014. With our initial goal set very high, we hope to document our progress and model so we can set up duplicate programs across America and even have a group dedicated for needy students in other countries. Knowing that our charity has the potential to give that one student the tools he/she needs to become the next great world leader or the scientist that discovers a cure for a deadly disease motivates me to make this project a success!
