BENEFITING: LOVE HOPE & FAITH OUTREACH
William Dominic Austin is the founder of Tackles4Cancer, a subsidiary of Love Hope Faith Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. He is also a former NFL player, cancer survivor, and an ambassador of Beyoncés humanitarian organization, Bey Good. In 2015 Tackles4Cancer helped over 75 patients tackle cancer and our 2016 goal is to assist 200 patients. Escaping the financial repercussions of surviving cancer can be very difficult and sometimes deadly. For patients who pay their expenses out of pocket, the cost of treatment for the first year alone can exceed $100,000. For patients with leukemia or lymphoma, that amount can reach $200,000 or more in the first year. Patient that have good health insurance spend hundreds of dollars in co-payments for one cycle of chemotherapy in a treatment regimen that requires six cycles. Out-of-pocket medical expenses for these insured patients can average $35,000. Tackles4Cancer partners with communities and sports organizations to donate a dollar amount per tackle, sack, point etc... The proceeds are used to improve the quality of life of cancer patients that need assistance with lodging, food, and gas.
