THE STORY:

Why Childs Dream?

The group was founded in 2003 by three investment bankers who left UBS to help underprivileged children in the Mekong Sub-Region. They are located in Chiang Mai with a staff of over 30. Approximately 95% of donated funds go into projects. One of the requirements for a project is participation/contribution from the community to create vested interests, i.e. Child's Dream is extremely hands on with your $$$.

Where Will Your Money Go?

Money raised for my race will go to the Yam Primary School in Burma. The school serves 5000 families in the Mandalay area. Description below:

We plan to support the construction of one new building with twelve classrooms and the toilets for the school and community. With the new building, we aim to provide the students with a safe and secure environment that is conducive for learning. In addition, we will also be supplying the school with furniture. A central temple in Mandalay will oversee the implementation of the project and oversee the construction progress with the support from their in-house engineers. As the government does not provide much support to rural schools, the central temple also provides other forms of support, such as teacher training. The local community supports the school through food donation to monks and teachers. The gold mining company will provide an excavator to level the land and contribute towards the teacher’s salary. Due to the volatility of the socio-political situation in the country, this project to be of medium risk. In addition, the rainy season may also affect the transportation of construction materials.
