Every day, more than 4,600 people are diagnosed with cancer and more than 1,600 people die from it. That's 3 new diagnoses and one death EVERY MINUTE. These are moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles...it affects EVERYONE. If you haven't personally been affected by cancer, odds are you know someone who has. Cancer takes a tremendous toll on everyone involved, but TaketheFight is here to ensure that NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE. TaketheFight is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that trains college students to help patients fight cancer more effectively and IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF CANCER CARE delivery. Students serve as lay navigators and advocates for cancer patients, called cancer strategists. While in college, strategists fight on the front lines against cancer, helping patients and their caregivers to become more supported, more informed, and more efficient in their fight. They empower the patient, facilitate the exchange of medical information, attend doctors’ appointments and treatments with patients, and provide support and personalized resources to the patient AT THE TIMES THEY NEED IT MOST.
