EVENT DATE: Mar 28, 2015
I am raising money for the National Capital Lyme Disease Association (NCLDA).
This is My Lyme Disease Story and Why this Cause is So Important: http://twinglesmom.blogspot.com/2013/12/giving-tuesday.html
Fall 2013 ~ the CDC announced that there are 300,000 confirmed cases of Lyme Disease in the United States. Lyme Disease does not discriminate. It can attack anyone. No one is immune.
I am a long distance runner battling chronic Lyme Disease. I am running a 100 mile race - the Umstead 100 Miler on March 28th, near Raleigh, NC, to raise money for the National Capital Lyme Disease Association! By running this race, I want to raise awareness about Lyme Disease, to bring hope to those battling Lyme Disease and to raise money to fund research for a cure for this crippling, chronic illness.
I consider running to be my "natural" antibiotic and it allows me to live a life free of pain. However, most individuals suffering from Lyme Disease battle daily chronic pain and fatigue. If Lyme Disease is left untreated, it will cause neurological symptoms.
On 11/23/13, I did something that my doctor said is unheard of with individual's battle Lyme Disease. I ran and finished the JFK 50 Miler as a fundraiser for the NCLDA. http://natcaplyme.org/special-events/50th-anniversary-jfk-50-mile.html
I am challenging myself to run 100 miles so that I might be able to help someone battling Lyme Disease!
Will you please help me "Take A Bite Out of Lyme Disease?" Please donate today using the CrowdRise link and let's find a cure to this disease that is destroying lives.
Thank You!! Amy
