THE STORY:

HELP BRING THE HEALING POWER OF CREATIVE EXPRESSION TO COMMUNITIES IN NEED

Tamalpa Institute is an internationally recognized nonprofit that offers expressive arts training programs and workshops for healing, education, and social transformation.

Grounded in the values of diversity and inclusion, the Tamalpa ArtCorps Program brings this transformative work to those who have been silenced or who face social discrimination. We provide students and alumni of the Tamalpa Institute with the organizational training and support to bring this important work into jails, hospitals, homeless shelters, and underserved communities in the U.S. and around the world.

With your generosity, we can continue to empower individuals and communities to find their voices, dance their stories, and transform their lives through the healing power of the arts.

Here are just a few of the community outreach and healing arts programs we hope to offer in 2016:

  • Oakland, CA – Dance program for at-risk youth.
  • San Rafael, CA – Workshops to support and empower victims of domestic violence.
  • Calcutta, India –Workshops for women and child survivors of human trafficking.
  • Philippines – A dance program for at-risk youth.

The Tamalpa Institute is also committed to offering training scholarships to exceptional students working in the social justice arena. Current scholarship recipients and candidates for 2016 include:

A Zimbabwean-Australian multidisciplinary performer and social change activist… a Jewish-Israeli psychotherapist working with Jewish-Israeli and Palestinian women on conflict resolution and peace-building… a young American educator working with African American youth in one of the most challenging areas of Sacramento… a young Palestinian man devoted to community dance… a Peruvian-American dancer focusing on Latin-American immigrant stories... a Buddhist nun from Korea devoted to the social role of Buddhism... and an Algerian man who works as a hospice nurse in France.

Your support is vital to the success of the Tamalpa ArtCorps program. Each and every donation makes a difference, so please give what you can. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Thanks in advance for your support!
