Hi friends! You may or may not know that I've suffered from migraines for over 20 years. And running may have saved me. Unfortunately, there's no mainstream preventative medicine approved for migraines. I've been running from pain almost my whole life and three years ago, I decided to take a stand. To avoid taking seizure medication, I started running and racing as a way to hold myself accountable for improving my health. I started working out regularly, changed my diet, and recommitted to acupuncture.
At my worst, I've dealt with 15+ episodes per month, and 4-8 migraines during my better months. Over the years I've missed countless events & nights of sleep, cried from the pain, and have spent entire days nauseous & vomiting :( I've been dizzy, lost vision, have gotten sick from random smells (salad made me sick the other day!), and have felt many other side effects.
But I've also jumped out of a plane FOUR FREAKING times, travelled the world, and have completed SIX half marathons! And that's where you come in!! I'm running my FIRST MARATHON to raise money for migraine research to hopefully find a cure for myself and the millions of others who suffer on a regular basis.
You can pledge as little as you like, but please consider donating at least $1 per mile (that's just $26.20!) or $38 (for the 38 millions Americans who suffer) to help :)
