Taneika LaShay Gibson (aka T’La) was a beautiful, vibrant, energetic, 28 year old woman who loved life. In November 2008, Taneika was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. In February 2009, she had surgery to remove her reproductive organs and cancer cells that were present. Her health deteriorated quickly but she kept the faith and kept on fighting.
Taneika made her transition on April 5, 2009 at 1:45 a.m. with that contagious smile of hers on her face. She left us to help fulfill her dream of ensuring that Ovarian Cancer Awareness is as widespread and common as it is for Breast Cancer Awareness. It is up to each one of us now to carry out Taneika’s (T’La) dream by doing our part to ensure that every woman is aware of ovarian cancer “the silent killer” and its symptoms and to be “silent” no more.
