EVENT DATE: Sep 15, 2012
Chantelle and I are going to Tanzania on behalf of our local church to help impoverished children and assist the local churches. Some of these children are sponsored and enrolled in various developmental programs through the Christian ministry of Compassion International. Your funds will be utilized by Chantelle and I for all travel related expenses (air, food, hotel) as well as for supplies for home repair projects in the villages.
That being said, we're not going to Tanzania simply to "do good things". Although we hope to be doing good things, our mission is a bit more strategic. For most of these kids in Tanzania, poverty is just a way of life; just as it was for their parents, as it was for their grandparents, and so on for many generations. And giving them handouts is typically more detrimental to them and at best, a very short term Band-Aid.
These kids need to know that they matter. That they are not here by accident. That they have a Creator that knows everything about them and loves them deeply. That their thoughts and feelings mean something. That someone believes in them. These kids DO matter.
As Wess Stafford, CEO of Compassion International, said "One changed child eventually changes a family. A changed family will influence change in its church. Enough changed churches will transform the community. Changed communites change regions. Changed regions will in time change an entire nation."
We pray that we will be used by God as a catalyst for change in the poverty-stricken region of Arusha, Tanzania. And if you have some money in your pocket that you can use to support this mission to help reach a child with God's love, we invite you to join us. Together, we can change the world, one child at a time.
Thank you for your support!!
