Exhale to Inhale believes survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault can feel strong and safe in their bodies. And when they do, they can help end the cycle of violence in their families and communities.
The practices of yoga and mindfulness have been proven to heal trauma in the mind and body! Exhale to Inhale brings yoga to women who can benefit the most from yoga, yet might not otherwise have access.
We could tell you how yoga helps empower these survivors but we'd rather you hear about what our work means to volunteers and those we serve from one of our teachers, Symone Rosette.
“Volunteering for ETI is a blessing for me. As a child I grew up in a home with domestic violence, and it affected my self worth and perception of what love really is. I was living in a cycle, attracting the same thing I experienced growing up in my own relationships. My yoga practice gave me the compassion and release I needed to begin loving myself enough to take control of my life. I personally know how yoga can restore the body, mind, spirit and soul. I’m proud to be able to share the techniques and skills that have been so powerful in my own growth and healing with the women I meet through ETI. Its more than just a weekly yoga class-together we are building community and empowering these women to reach their full potential during what may be the most important transition of their lives. I am working towards becoming a certified yoga therapist specializing in working with people dealing with PTSD. The educational opportunities and trainings that are available to me through volunteering with Exhale to Inhale support my life's purpose and path. My sisters at ETI are more than just amazing mentors and fellow yogis-together we are bringing the healing power of yoga to communities that truly need it, and may not have access to it any other way. When you work together with a team on life changing missions like these, we don't call it a non-profit, we call it family.”
Please help us fulfill our mission to empower survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to reclaim their lives through the healing and grounding practice of yoga.
