Tasha's Cushing's disease Medical expenses
Organized by: Kerry McBrearty
Hi, I’m Kerry Mc Brearty. As most of you know, I created and run the auctions on the AFA – Auctions for Animals Facebook page. I have helped many rescues raise thousands of dollars each so that they can help the dogs that are in their care. Well I am the one that needs help now. My female Siberian Husky Tasha was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease and it will be an expensive few month of tests and treatments. Her Cushing’s disease will not be cured but we can get her symptoms under control. Her symptoms are: An enlarged stomach (as if she was bloated all the time), an enlarged liver, excessive panting, increased drinking and incontinence due to a weak sphincter muscle. In the beginning she will need an ACTH stim blood test to determine how advanced her disease is (which costs about $265.00). They will put her on Trilostane 120 mg a day (which costs $250.00 for 30 pills). 2 weeks after starting the Trilostane she will need another ACTH Stim blood test, and another 2 weeks after that one. This means it will cost $1045.00 the first month. This will be done for 2 months. They will then reduce the frequency of the blood tests, but she will always be on the Trilostane. Therefore it will cost $2090.00 in just the first 2 months. Unfortunately my current financial situation does not have any slack to afford her treatment and it saddens and hurts me to see her in this condition. That is why I am reaching out to all of you, asking to help Tasha.
