THE STORY:

Stop. Violence against women and families is unacceptable, but structural changes to a deeply enmeshed system is an overwhelming task, that needs your help.

The stigma and shame associated with sexual violence - combined with societal norms that often blame the woman for the attack and condone the perpetrator's behavior, criminal justice procedures that put the victim on trial instead of her assailant, and laws that fail to protect her if she was not also beaten during the attack - all contribute to women's continued vulnerability to sexual assault.

Meet the agencies in New York that are making strides at various points in the system:

*New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NYSCASA)
*New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault

Goal:
We will donates $50K or whatever amount of money can be raised to a deserving NGO or Women's Shelter in New York. We will help them write and apply for more national grants to strengthen their efforts, in prevention, education and urgent response.
