My Georgia Tech AGD sorority sister Melissa's daughter Taylor Brooks was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer July 2007. Sadly Taylor lost her battle April 1 2008. In that short time while she bravely battled her cancer, she organized a holiday party for the kids and parents at the AFLAC Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta AND Organized fund raising to bridge the technology budget gap for the new AFLAC Cancer Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Taylor's Parents Melissa and Jeff remember and honor Taylor by continuing to raise funds to support patients and parents of Cancer Patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta along with * increasing the visibility of Childhood Cancer,
* humanitarian support of the patients and care-givers,
* resources to analyze and implement treatment options, and
* resources to research new treatments.
The Taylor Brooks Foundation is a grass roots organization with VERY little overhead that among other things each weekend delivers donuts to the patients, parents and caretakers of Cancer Patients at CHOA. You can read about this wonderful organization here:
Every little bit helps.......
I am sure July is not an easy month for the Brooks family....I would like to honor them by trying to run the Peachtree Road Race 10k on July 4th in Taylor's honor.
All monies raised go directly to this organization. I am paying for the race myself.....just thought it might be nice to try to help get those kids their donuts and holiday goodies!
