I first met Robbie Twible, an EB patient, in 2011 when I spectated the NYC marathon for the first time. I was introduced by my uncle, Brian DeMasters, who's been a friend of the Twible family for some time. My first encounter with Robbie was a moment I will never forget. An incredibly smart kid with a magnetic personality. I watched as my family members in 2011 and each year since, fundraised and ran 26.2 in an effort to find a cure for this unimaginable disease. People ask why in the world I would want to run 26.2 miles and I can understand why! But having had just a glimpse into the life of the Twible family, seeing the unweavering strength each of them carries and their hope for the future, I am left with the feeling that I too can harness the strength and use it to run. Run for Robbie, run for the other EB survivors, run for my family and run for LIFE! Join me in an effort to make a difference and be a part of something bigger than ourselves! Much thanks, and much love.
