TBI Road to Recovery
Organized by: Deleted Deleted
For those that don't know, I was involved in an auto accident in January 2013. I lost the usage of my neck for a few months and spent several in physical therapy to get my strength back. Even after all this time, I remain in constant pain and mental fatigue, while trying to keep a smile on my face.
Six months later I was diagnosed with a brain injury, PTSD, and anxiety. I have some pretty dark days when I'm not feeling well. But I try to use humor and art as my therapy/medicine. Sometimes it works out pretty well :)
Over the last year and a half I have been without a steady income, as I have not been released to return to work due to my brain injury. I've exhausted all saved funds since bills just don't disappear. My hope in creating this is to share the fact that as much as it looks like I'm put together on the outside, I still have a long road to recovery ahead. But I am willing and trying to work hard to get back into a good place- physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. Appearances are deceiving because I'm certain many people would never realize I had medical problems unless I tell them---so here I am, baring my soul.
I have past due medical bills, some of which are for MSU physicians and my outstanding balance leaves me unable to register for classes to finish my degree. It has always been my dream, more importantly my goal to finish my education at Michigan State. My love for MSU is everlasting regardless if I am able to return or not. I am hoping to re-enroll and finish with the help of the RCPD office [Resource Center for Persons with Disability].
Ultimately, I need money to get caught up and just survive. I sincerely appreciate anyone that is kind enough to help me along the way. Let me say "thank you" in advance. Whether you can give or not doesn't matter. Just please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that I'll one day get back to "normal" and I will keep you in mine.
If you can and want to give, please know any money raised will be used toward medical bills (I am still in need of brain injury treatment which is very expensive) living expenses, college tuition and a few art supplies. I say art supplies because I am in the process of selling my art online. If you'd like a painting to acknowledge your donation- please let me know.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. It took a lot for me to ask for help, so I appreciate your time, consideration, and prayers and/or donations!
In the meantime, if you have any questions please ask or if there is some way I can help you, let me know.
