BENEFITING: Philadelphia Young Playwrights
As many of you know, I've worked at Philadelphia Young Playwrights for the last 7+ years. As we approach our annual Write On! fundraiser (on Monday!) - I realized that I don't share enough of the great work that PYP does and why I love to work here so much. Even though I work in the office, I get to see every day the impact that our teaching artists, teachers, and staff have on the students we serve. Here's a few pretty big numbers for you
In the 2015-16 School Year Young Playwrights Core Classroom Program serves-
- 2,160 Students
- 90 Classrooms
- 44 Schools
- Every program has at least 25 hours of Classroom time, which means 1255 Hours of Instruction!
And that is just the Core Program. I won't even go into the Monologue Festival, the Play Development Series, the Paula Vogel Mentors Project, the.... well, you get my point.
I think that is pretty impressive. But don't take my word for it! Listen to what Classroom Teacher Lori Odum has to say about it. Can you consider even $10 to support this amazing and singular program that reaches so many of Philadelphia's underserved students?
