BENEFITING: Global Glimpse
EVENT DATE: Jul 23, 2016
I'm going to Leon, Nicaragua to lead a group of 20 high school students on a service learning trip. For many of these students, it will be their first time leaving the US. Rather than going to exotic locations, these students are instead dedicating 3-weeks of their summer to learn "design thinking principles" - empathy, problem definition, solution ideation, prototyping and testing - as it applies to grassroots international development.
Help me raise funds for Global Glimpse, the non-profit that organizes these trips. As part of the trip, the US students will receive lectures from local politicians and international agencies, visit families in rural areas and experience what it is like to live on $1-a-day, as well as teach English to local students. From these activities, students will partner with a local organization to co-develop a project that is accessible, sustainable, and scalable. I will be there to supervise daily activities, facilitate design sessions, and provide emotional support.
Your generosity will go directly to future travel scholarships for low-income and under-resourced students. Give the gift of travel!
