BENEFITING: JANADA L BATCHELOR FOUNDATION FORCHILDREN INC
I teach 5th grade language arts in Evanston, IL--and I am so excited to be going to work with JBFC (Janada L. Batchelder Foundation for Children) this summer.
I will be working with young people, teaching them creative writing and art-making--all with the goal of having fun, crossing cultural barriers, and improving literacy. Learn more about this fabulous organization right here: http://www.jbfc-online.org/.
I need money for supplies and books to start a library. I've already begun to raise money through pledge drives among my students, but I need more help.
The girls living at the JBFC are already ahead of the game in Tanzania. The reality of these children is heartbreaking:
- 1 in 10 Tanzanian children are orphans.
- 3 out of every 10 orphans have lost at least 1 parent to AIDS.
- 90% of Tanzanians live on less than $1.25 a day.
I'll send pictures and some writing to everyone who makes a donation, promise!
P.S. Some of my friends have already sent checks directly to JBFC via Pay Pal--a big shout to them and sorry your name is not on the cool roll call!
