In 2011 I was sitting at the kitchen table of my babysitters house eating my post-school snack when I realized my partner in crime, Lily, wasn’t there like usual. I asked my babysitter why she wasn’t there and she said she was staying at a friends for a while. Later that night I found out her little 5 year-old sister, Becca, was diagnosed with Leukemia for the second time in her life. Lily had gone off to stay at a friends house for the rest of the school year while their mom and dad went back and forth between the hospital and home constantly. Becca went through several rounds of chemo before they found a bone marrow donor. Going through a bone marrow transplant in July 2012, Becca was soon to be cancer free. While going back and forth between the hospital constantly, Lily would occasionally not be able to come over to play because it was her Mom’s day or her Dad’s with her. One of the days she could come over, she was very excited. She was going to Disney World! Becca had gotten a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation! Both Lily and Becca’s spirit’s seemed more positive and happy. I’ll never forget the look on both of their faces when they told me they got their wish granted.
89% of doctors surveyed believe that a wish can influence a wish kids health. 99% of parents surveyed said their kids seemed more happy. 96% of families surveyed say that their wish experience help strengthen them as a family. It’s statistics like these that make me feel good about what I am doing. The littlest donation could be the few extra dollars needed for a wish to be 100% complete. That wish can’t happen without your help. This summer I plan on surpassing my goal of $500, but I can't do that without your help. Please donate to help this amazing cause.
