THE STORY:

Mary Rutkowski wrote -

Hi All, as you know my daughter - the amazing Addie Eve - has been a warrior in the truest sense of the word this year! She has been bravely and fiercely and beautifully being treated for Stage 3C Melanoma since December 2015 including one surgery that month and another in January 2016. She had a zillion things to learn, options to weigh and decisions to make along the way for treatment methods, post surgery, and opted for gambling for Pembro in a clinical trial that started April 2016 and will go up til April 2017. Her gamble (and many prayers were answered) worked out and she was chosen to get Pembro. All along the way she's had her determined, beautiful and dedicated girlfriend (now wonderful fiance) Ashley Mallon by her side - and I mean every step of the way - as Ashley was often doing rotations for clinicals during her nursing school program on days when she wasn't with Addie at MGH or RI Hospital or sometimes - both!!! I will be running, on September 25, at a fundraiser for the Melanoma Association of New England to help raise funds for research and support in Addie's name. I would love for you to join my team and/or to help raise funds under the name "Team Addie Eve" as if we get at least $100 in donations - (I am aiming for $1000 but who knows - the sky is the limit!) there will be a special dedication marker for Addie on along the path that day. There is a also a walk option, family walk and kids run. This event is being held on September 25 at 8:30 with some events then and the 5K race at 10am. Please feel free to join me that day at the Run/Race/Walk for Hope: http://mfne.org/runwalkforhope/. I have been truly, deeply humbled by Addie's phenomenal strength, good humor, patience, compassion and again - sheer bravery this year. I am the luckiest and most blessed mom in the world to have her as my daughter. That's me in the photo standing in front of a beautiful rainbow on my recent July spiritual retreat - where I prayed and hoped beyond measure daily that there is a pot of golden restored health for dear Addie.  I hope to see you to see you on 9/25 or see your donation here. Thank you for all the small and big ways you have also supported Addie (and Ashley) along this journey. Love lots, Mary Rutkowski
