Support me as I run the Boston Marathon! A decade is too long to go without seeing a loved one. But in 2017 I will have suffered over the loss of my brother for 10 years. Michael - known affectionately as Mikey to everyone - took his life at the age of 30. It was a shock to all who knew him. Mikey was funny, energetic, a fantastic athlete and daring sportsman. He loved Christmas, cheering for the Cleveland Browns, and playing sports well beyond college. He loved his family, his friends, and was so proud to become the father of a precious baby girl the year before he died. Mikey made people laugh, he wrote poetry and was learning to play the guitar. He was adventurous enough to snowboard down the mountains in Colorado, or tailgate in the wee hours of the morning before football games but he couldn't conquer the sadness he found in 2007. It was a depression brought on by several life changes and one that went deeper than any of us could ever fathom. I am running because I miss him and the only thing I can do is to honor him with how I spend my own life. I am running to create awareness. I am running because my baby brother can't. I am running for all of the contemplators of suicide and for those left in the agonizing aftermath of it. I am running with the hope that my small gesture will contribute somehow to the greater good. Please help support me by making a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Thank you!
