BENEFITING: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
ORGANIZER: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
I'm running the Boston Marathon in 2017 to raise money for AFSP and awareness in what we can all do to help those around us who struggle with this. So many people are impacted by the death of our family and friends, or our own thoughts, and far too often attempts.
I need your help. Please. Here are some scary numbers to consider...
- Suicide is the 10th Leading cause of death in the US.
- 42,773 Americans died in 2015 from suicide.
- For every suicide there are 25 attempts - that is over 1,069,000 attempts.
But here is the part that you can help with...
- It's preventable.
I would welcome not only your donation to help the AFSP work to cut suicide by 25% by 2015, but also your stories of how you've been impacted by suicide. Running a marathon is hard. In Boston it is cold, wet, and nasty training weather, but your supprt makes it all worthwhile.
I wish you and your loved ones well.
