Lisa Alfonso wrote -In June 2011, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage IIIC. As I embarked on my journey, I met many courageous women who were fighting for their lives. A large number of them were not only dealing with the stress of their diagnosis, they were faced with extraordinary financial hardships. It was then that I set out on a mission to assist these women and promote ovarian cancer awareness. In 2012, I became a board member of the Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation (CMOCF), an organization made up of one-hundred percent volunteers. Through your generosity and that of our community, we have provided approximately $500,000.00 in financial assistance to patients for rent, mortgages, food, utilities and treatment transportation. We have also awarded grants for research on early detection and treatment of ovarian cancer. A donation in any amount can help these women continue to fight the fight and not stress about how they will afford to live while they receive treatment and cannot work. It will relieve the financial burden and refocus their energy on healing. If you'd like to help further, please post the link to this fundraiser to Facebook. Your support is greatly appreciated.
