BENEFITING: Cure JM Foundation
EVENT DATE: May 13, 2017
Juvenile dermatomyositis, the most common inflammatory myopathy of childhood, is a rare multi-systemic autoimmune vasculopathy, primarily characterized by proximal muscle weakness and pathognomonic skin rashes. It affects approximately 3.2 million children in the United States per year, with the average onset at 7 years old. The physicians at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore (Team CHAM) would like to encourage our doctors, nurses, staff, patients, friends and families to join the Walk Strong to Cure JM fundraising event in an effort to support much needed research in Juvenile Myositis. We are amazed by the efforts of the Cure JM foundation to provide education, social support and critical research funding for our JM patients and their families. Cure JM has been a "Top Rated" nonprofit by Great Nonprofits each year since 2011 and in 2015 received the Independent Charities "Best in America" Seal of Excellence. Please help us express our gratitude and join them in their endeavor to "Cure" Juvenile Myositis.
