Please support one excellent runner, two pretty good runners and two horrible runners (bad knees!) as we (again) push ourselves to the limit in a 5K to raise money and support the students at the Urban School for Law and Justice in Brooklyn. Last year when we ran, we raised more than $500 from friends and family, and one of us (Robin) actually won the race (in her age group) and one of us (Kim) kept running long after the finish line as she was so focused that she totally missed said finish line. In other words, she pretty much took last in her age group. So this year, we're aiming for $700. Help! All proceeds go directly toward providing college and career prep services and enrichment programs for students at the Urban School for Law and Justice. This is a good school, and a good cause. The students are kids who, for the most part, live at or near the poverty line, will be the first in their family to attend college, and enter ninth grade with a fourth- or fifth-grade reading level. With lots of hard work, the students are brought up to grade level and get to a place where they compete with their wealthier peers. As acceptance letters started rolling in last week, students were admitted to Cornell, Barnard, and Skidmore (with a full ride!), along with many other colleges. Please help us help them get there.
