BENEFITING: EAST AFRICA CHILDRENS HOPE INC
EVENT DATE: Jul 24, 2016
I love to run. I love to bike. I'm learning to love to swim. Combining those two-and-a-half loves with a commitment to supporting nonprofit organizations that promote self-sustainability around the world, I am doing this year’s NYC Triathlon as part of Team EACH! I’m excited to join a group of people who have turned their passion for volunteerism into a nonprofit.
EACH (East Africa Children's Hope) is an amazing 501c3 organization that raises funds for The Good Hope Initiative in Uganda and Upendo School and Children's Home in Kenya. Since 2007, EACH has raised more than $150,000, ninety-five percent of which has gone directly to Good Hope, which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and empower families in Uganda, and Upendo, a growing orphanage and school in Kenya. The donations have funded nine classrooms, solar panels, new textbooks, teacher salaries, a pig farm, medical bills, school supplies, a water pump and tanks, a grain mill, partially funded a dormitory, and much more.
EACH is always thinking ahead, communicating directly with Good Hope and Upendo to identify projects that need funding, and considering new sites in East Africa. Every donation makes a huge difference: $25 funds 3 school uniforms or 2 months’ worth of food for 1 child; $50 pays 1 farm worker's salary for 1 month or funds 1 years’ worth of medical expenses for 1 child; $100 pays for 1 day student’s tuition fees for 1 year; $150 funds 1 year’s worth of a food for a child; $300 pays for 1 student’s boarding school tuition for a year; $500 pays 1 teacher’s salary for four months; $1000 funds all school expenses, including medical care, food, room and board for one high school girl at Upendo; and $7,500 funds the construction of a new classroom.
Thank you in advance for supporting me to run the NYC Tri so that we can support Team EACH.
