Emso is focused on investing in Emerging Markets and feels strongly about supporting charities that are dedicated to helping the people in those markets. Tusk funds projects across Africa to reduce poverty, improve education and protect wildlife. Tusk celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015, and we want to help it raise more money than ever in supporting this very good cause.
Since its formation in 1990, Tusk has invested more than £25 ($40) million into a wide range of projects across the continent. Tusk currently supports over 50 field projects in 18 African countries that work to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education (over 72,000 students attend schools and education centres supported by Tusk) amongst rural communities, as well as to protect the wildlife they live alongside.
This year's Safaricom Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on the 25th June 2015 at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya. What began as a simple idea back in 2000 has now grown from 180 runners in 2000 raising $50,000 to 1,200 runners in 2014 raising $725,000. The unique marathon is exceptional in many ways -- it combines an unusual fundraising initiative with one of Kenya’s greatest sporting passions - running.
We hope you will join us in supporting the efforts of Tusk. We have logged countless training runs and sessions in the altitude chamber in preparation for the event already!
