Why are we Walking for Women?
Our mission is centered on empowering women, which often leads us to work in some of the most difficult places where women have an uphill climb to be seen, heard, valued, respected, promoted and paid. This event is an opportunity for us to raise awareness about the challenges women face, celebrate women who are leading change and share ideas on how we can all make a difference.
Proceeds from the event will support our global partners, who need our help in the fight to End Trafficking, Improve Maternal Health, Educate Girls, and Ensure women can achieve Sustainable Livelihoods.
What is a Virtual Run/Walk?
A virtual run/walk is a race where people with all fitness levels and ages can run/walk (or be pushed in a wheelchair or stroller) towards a distance goal – anywhere, any way, and at any time.
What is the Distance Goal?
If you're a beginner (or just don't want to go far), do the 2K challenge (1.24 miles). If you hit the pavement (or treadmill) every week, go for the 5K (3.11 miles)!
Join me in person November 6th at the Lakeshore Trail, off Lakeshore Blvd, at 4 p.m. Or, walk on your treadmill or in your neighborhood that day.
